The IPL 2024 retention deadline day witnessed numerous players’ releases, with 85 individuals released from their respective franchises. The day’s most significant news emerged from the Gujarat Titans camp, where the Ahmedabad-based franchise retained star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, making the potential trade to his former team, Mumbai Indians. Shubman Gill will be the new captain of the Gujrat Super Giants for the IPL 2024 Season.

Several notable players, including England pacer Jofra Archer, were released by the Mumbai Indians due to ongoing injury concerns. Additionally, England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes and former England captain Joe Root opted out of the IPL 2024 season to manage their workloads. Also, Ben Stokes’s performance was not good in the whole CWC 2023 India.

With the player retention window for the Indian Premier League(IPL) 2024 season drawing to a closed on 26th November 2023, the 10 franchises have cumulatively retained 173 players.
