The Rajkot-born diamond player Cheteshwar Pujara has smashed more than 500 runs in the ongoing Royal London One-Day Cup this season. While playing for Sussex, the India Test specialist has smashed 1,094 runs in eight matches at an average of 109.40.

The Indian test team superstar & Captain of the Sussex team, Cheteshwar Pujara signed a contract with Sussex on Mar 10, 2022, for the County Championship 2022 and Royal London One-Day Cup competition, he replaced Australian batsman Travis Head in the team.
Pujara dominated bowlers in the County Championship Division Two. Representing his county Sussex in his debut season, the India Test specialist has smashed 1,094 runs in eight matches at an average of 109.40, which includes three double-hundreds & two hundred. He also slammed a double hundred against Middlesex – his third double ton in county cricket and his 16th overall in first-class cricket.

Captain of the Sussex team Cheteshwar Pujara has been in sensational form in the ongoing English domestic One-Day Cup. Pujara is in the form of his life, playing dazzling innings one after another. The 34-year-old has smashed more than 500 runs in the ongoing Royal London One-Day Cup this season while playing for Sussex.
Pujara slammed a big hundred off just 75 balls, scoring 132 against Middlesex on Tuesday, Aug 23, during which he also crossed 5000 runs in List A cricket since making his debut for West Zone in the Deodhar Trophy in 2006. Pujara now averages an incredible 57.48 in List A cricket, narrowly behind Australia great Michael Bevan’s average of 57.86.
Over the year, while Cheteshwar Pujara’s reputation as a Test specialist has grown tremendously, his limited-overs career has almost spiralled. Pujara hasn’t played in the Indian Premier League(IPL) for years and his last limited-overs appearance for India came way back in 2014. Cheteshwar Pujara’s scintillating form has powered Sussex to the semi-final, having topped Group A standings with 12 points from eight matches. Pujara is currently the second-highest run-getter in the ongoing 50-over tournament and is only 44 runs behind leading run-scorer Stephen Eskinazi of Middlesex.
English County Championship Division Two competition:
Before sensational form in the ongoing English domestic One-Day Cup, Pujara had phenomenal form in the County Championship Division Two 2022 as well.
Cheteshwar Pujara also has the second-most runs to his name. County cricket revived a down-and-out Pujara’s cricketing career after he was dropped post a poor run in the South Africa Test series. Following his impressive run in the County Championships, Pujara made a comeback to India’s Test team for the rescheduled fifth and final Test against England at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in July. India went on to lose the match in which Pujara scored 13 and 66 in the two innings.
